Xopenex is used for patients that have asthma because the airways open up. When the airways are opened it can be easier for the patient to breathe and that is why it works wonders for patients that have asthma.

Xopenex is considered a nebulizer. The nebulizer works as an liquid by creating aerosol. When that happens the patient breathes it in by their mouth or either by the nose and mouth so it goes directly on the lungs. The doctor teaches the patient how to use the nebulizer the right way because it might be complicated at first for the ones who are just starting out on this medication. When the doctor is showing the patient what to do if there are any questions the patient should ask to make sure they know how to take it the right way.

This medication should never be mixed with any other kind of medication. If using other medications the patient should notify the doctor and alert the doctor as to what kind of medications the patient is on. Depending on what other medications the patient is using the doctor may or may not allow the patient to use Xopenex or either lower the dosage.
