What are the Triggers for Childhood Asthma?


According to a recent study, there are approximately 9 million cases of childhood asthma and the ratio is increasing day by day. Since, asthma is directly related with the difficulty of passage of air in the airways, the problem is increasing manifold. Things which the airways don’t like and when those particular things come in contact with the airways, they are referred to as triggers for childhood asthma! The airways can become increasingly irritated and can make the child suffer from different symptoms like wheezing, chest tightness and more.

Since there are no particular triggers which every child with asthma has, basically, it varies from child to child and the child’s ability to deal with the same. For example, car exhaust fumes and gas fumes are some common triggers. Some other triggers include smoke, paint fumes, some food additives and lots more. Apart from this, some activities can also act like triggers in some cases like medication, exercise, and change in weather. So, finding that particular trigger can actually help a lot in fighting with asthma in the long haul. It is very important to address each and every trigger individually.
