What is Occupational Asthma? |
Asthma in general language is the problems encountered in the process of breathing. It is chronic inflammation of the breathing passages of the lungs leading to problem or difficulty in breathing. One of the forms of asthma is occupational asthma, which is on continuous rise mostly in the developed countries. To be precise the occupational Asthma is the problem in breathing or breathing disease caused by exposure to a trigger in the workplace. The trigger is from the workplace and the list of trigger is quite long and varied. The occupational asthma can occur in any line of the work or work environment it could be office, hospitals, stores, medical facilities etc. The trigger in general may be the contaminants in the air like smoke, chemicals, vapors (gases) dust, fumes, cold and flu viruses, participles causing respiratory infection even the extremes of temperature can be a trigger, or an emotional excitement or stress could be the reason. |
