How is Night Time Asthma Diagnosed?

It is found that about 75% of people with asthma experience the symptoms of asthma that disrupt their sleep at least once in a week and is popularly known as Nocturnal Asthma. The sort of asthma during sleep will not only impair sleep quality but will also lead to problems in day i.e. may lead to difficulty in concentrating. The reason being that most of the people have asthma symptoms at night may be due to the certain hormones at their highest or lowest in the early morning. The number of inflammatory cells in the airways is at its highest in the early morning and people with asthma may experience reduced lung function overnight.

The night asthma can be diagnosed through the following ways:

The doctor will check your breathing and the signs of asthma or allergies and for the very purpose of diagnosing night asthma your doctor may use a device called a Spirometer to check how your lungs are working. Even, if your test on Spirometer results are normal and you still have the asthma symptoms then the doctor may ask you to get other tests to find out what else is contributing to your asthma that could be a allergy test, a test to see how your airways react to exercise, test to see if you have sinus disease and other tests as well. The diagnosis should be correct as asthma is treated differently from other diseases with similar symptoms.
