What type of medicine is prescribed for Nocturnal Asthma?


Nocturnal asthma is a form or type of asthma, which usually occurs in the night. Most often, patients experience and the symptoms strike mostly at night when the patient is sleeping. The reason being is that at this time the epinephrine and coritsol, which protect the body against asthma, are its lowest level. The occurrence or the attack of Nocturnal Asthma is found to be more frequent between mid night and 8 am.

 In order to treat Nocturnal asthma there are few prescribed medicines mentioned here. In this case, long-term asthma medicines are quite effective if taken on the regular basis. Most of these include drug therapies. The most frequently used and common is inhaled Corticosteroids this works by reducing the inflammation in the airways that prevent allergic responses. Another important and commonly used long-term Nocturnal medicine is Long- acting beta-2 agonist (LABAs) which is quite effective in preventing moderate to severe forms of asthma. Another medicine used is Leukotriene modifiers that also prevents allergic responses and can immune system that can cause the symptoms of asthma.

 Along with this for the purpose of quick relief, the medicines are short-acting bronchiodilators, which helps to stop an asthma attack in progress. Short-acting beta-2 agonists (SABAs) usually start working in minutes and last four to six hours. So, Nocturnal Asthma can be treated with the above prescribed medicines.
