What is Juvenile Asthma


Asthma in adolescence is basically termed as juvenile asthma. Diagnosis of asthma in kids less than 5 is especially serious as their air pathways are narrow and this makes their asthma more difficult.
This inflammation is caused because of response of an immune system to triggers. Most commonly seen triggers for asthma in children include smoke of cigarette, pollen, pets, dust mites, mold, heavy physical exercise or weather changes.

Symptoms of asthma in children can be mild or severe. Symptoms of asthma include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing, sleep disturbance, tiring quickly during exercise. Also children can have lot of major respiratory problem in the early stages if life such as pneumonia and bronchitis.

Children suffering with this disease usually use an inhaled medication like albuterol from a rescue inhaler to counter asthma attacks or flare. Prescription of daily medication given by specialist can also be taken to reduce the prevalence and severity of the attacks.

Although many children outgrow childhood asthma, some do not but as asthma lowers the amount of oxygen entering the body, some asthma attacks can easily be life threatening. So asthma patient should be given proper attention and medication once it is detected.
