CAN INFECTIONS IRRITATE ASTHMA?

Yes, ofcourse they do. Infections are also one of those factors which aggravate or triggers asthma. These infections may be from different grounds. Some of the major infections that cause asthma symptoms and flare-ups are listed below.

Viral infections which include nasal infections, lungs, sinuses and throat develop problems in breathing and irritates airway thus triggering asthma. Even sinusitis, inflammation around eyes and nose, triggers asthma. Bronchial infections or irritation may develop into serious pulmonary disease including asthma. Bronchitis symptoms are developed mainly on the exposure to the allergens like dust, pollen, perfumes, room fresheners etc.

Respiratory infections like cold, flu or sinus infection are the most common cause of asthma symptoms leading to increased asthma symptoms. One of the worst offenders of the asthma flare ups due to irritation comes from ammonia and the cleaning products. Allergic infections are yet another cause of asthma flare ups. Allergies resulting in infections are caused due to exposure to certain indoor (like house dust mites, pet dander etc) and outdoor allergens (pollens, molds etc) thus triggering asthma.

Also wash your hands with soap and warm water before and after preparing food, eating, taking medications, after coughing or sneezing, using washrooms, after touching public property, touching solid linen or clothing or spending time with a person having any infection
