What Effects do Allergies have on Asthma?


It is a very common question whether the allergies are responsible for causing asthmatic symptoms. The answer to this question is both yes and no. It has been found out that people have certain kind of allergies are prone to asthma attacks. There are different kinds of allergies which can trigger asthma attacks such as the allergies which affect nose and eyes, causing problems like a running nose or red, itchy eyes.

There can be other reasons like pollen or dust mites which can trigger an asthmatic response. It is also not necessary that everyone who has allergies would develop asthma. Some of the common allergies include dust mites, mold, pollen and animal dander. In case a person has allergies, the immune system reacts to the allergens producing an antibody called immunoglobulin (IgE).

This is followed by a process in which certain substances are produced such as histamine that can influence the eyes, nose, throat, skin, gastrointestinal tract, or lungs. This affects the airways of the lungs resulting into the symptoms of asthma. Thus it is advisable to have an idea of the allergies which are responsible for triggering an asthma attack. This will keep the condition under control.
