The most important aspect of the treatment of cardiac asthma is the correct diagnoses of cardiac asthma since the patients of cardiac asthma develops symptoms like wheezing which are similar to the symptoms developed in some other types of disorders like asthma, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The basic step which the doctor follows in treating this disease is to improve the pump function of heart along with prescribing the effective medications. While most of the treatments for cardiac asthma involves controlling the night coughs, control of the edema, control of the inflow load and controlling the amount of residual blood in the left ventricle.

Surgeries or some other sophisticated procedures are opted for those patients of cardiac asthma who have developed this disease due to improper functioning of the heart valve or if there is a hole between the heart chambers. Treatment of heart failure is done using diuretics (water pills) so as to set the lungs free of excess fluid and the medications which aim at helping effective pumping by heart muscles.

Since cardiac asthma is not the asthma exactly, so in some cases people develop heart failure and asthma simultaneously hence the treatment for both the diseases should be given separately.
